Marie Berger faces financial difficulties while supporting an unproductive partner. Following his suggestion, she plans to manipulate her wealthy boss for money by pretending to be pregnant after seducing him. The initial seduction and intimacy with her boss are enjoyable for her. After quitting her job, she aims to blackmail him with her fabricated pregnancy.

When she confronts her boss, he is taken aback and agrees to her demands, but he grows suspicious and wants to confirm her pregnancy by feeling her belly. Marie's deception is revealed when he discovers a pillow hidden in her dress. As a consequence of her betrayal, he retaliates against her.
