Video comparison part 1, part 2 and diffchecking by colour erasure: FRA is slightly cropped, and contrast has been preferred over definition, resulting in blurry details. Image 3 of comparison 1 is quite interesting in showing that both GER andUSA have more compression artefacts, although they are in the darker areas (the nascent beard of the young man) for USA, and in the lighter part (the shirt of the young woman at breast level) for GER. ESP and CHN are very close, yet there are slightly more compression artefacts in ESP (for instance, in the second image of the first part, on the left side of the yellow skirt, just below the hand.)
The subtitles have the following format: PGS/.sub and SubRip/srt, and are merged with video and audio
Inversion spectrograms: ESP, GER and FRA are both dual-mono, so were reduced to mono DVD9 is actual stereo.
Audio is very similar in depth, if not in loudness, in CHN, ESP, USA and GER. FRA is fuller, has more depth and a better rendition of details. Audio from the DVD5 is english only so was not considered. Audio from DVD9 is trickier: it is actual stereo, but DVD9 is 25fps. Syncing video to audio was the easy path, but it would have significantly hasted the movie, shortening it by over 4min30s, which does not seem desirable with a movie by ric Rohmer where pace is essential. However, actually listening to the DVD9 audio showed a noticeable difference in the pitch of the voices compared to the FRA track. So DVD9 audio was slowed by a factor of 4% in audacity, resulting in a stereo track indistinguishable, in pitch, from the FRA track.Nonetheless, the FRA track was preferred in the end as both faithful to the original mono and having the most depth.
Spectrograms and waveforms.
DVD9 and DVD5 have the same number of named chapters, however DVD9 has better names. Those were translated from French to English and synced to the I frame.
The English subtitles fromUSA are the most detailed, so they were retained.
FRAhas no pre-titles, so a +16333ms delay was added to the audio with eac3to.
PGS GER subtitles were delayed by -19458ms with bdsup2sub++, and visually checked for synchronisation.
PGS USA subtitles were delayed by -21021ms and synced to 24fps (from the original 23.976fps) with bdsup2sub++, and visually checked for synchronisation.
ESP and CHN are perfectly aligned. Subtitles were visually checked for synchronisation nonetheless.
AMZN and MUBI subtitles where synced with alass-cli, and visually checked for synchronisation.(AMZN English subtitles were marginally superior to the MUBI ones so were preferred).

REPACK Reason :
- first source for the Potemkine Blu-Ray was tampered with, got a better source.
- replacement of USAwithCHN for the video source
- Additional subtitles
- Named chapters and audio from the DVD
