Video comparisons:
Comparison: Criterion UHD, Toho UHD, BFI BD (upscaled)
Audio:
Criterion UHD, Toho UHD and BFI BD all share the same mastering, which pales in comparison to the track BFI used on their streaming service a couple years ago.
The BFI Player stereo track has a ton of detail, better channel separation and sounds less muffled than other alternatives. It appears to be a mixdown, but this isn't a significant issue, as the surround is only used for about five minutes of the movie, plus the opening music.
Four-track stereo (Left, Right, Center, Back) included from the JPN UHD. BFI/Criterion are the same, only encoded with duplicate back channels in a 5.1 container.
