The film "A Woman's Torment," directed by Roberta Findlay, follows the struggles of a couple, Don and Frances, whose marriage is strained by the presence of Frances's mentally ill sister, Karen, living with them. The couple contemplates committing Karen to an asylum for the sake of their relationship. Upon overhearing their plans, Karen escapes to a remote beach and takes refuge in an empty house. There, her mental state deteriorates, leading to violent delusions and a growing bloodlust. The film, which blends melodrama with elements of sex and proto-slasher horror, features performances by Crystal Sync, Jake Teague, and Tara Chung as Karen. It includes a classical soundtrack by Walter Sear and has been newly restored in 2k from its 35mm negative, including an extended R-rated version. Although primarily a narrative film, it contains graphic hardcore scenes.
