A new approach was taken with the AI upscale software by reverting to an earlier version, which offered a less aggressive smoothing of videos. This resulted in a more natural low-resolution appearance, avoiding the artifacts commonly seen in higher-resolution versions. The overall experience of this new result was found to be more enjoyable. Many vintage shoots, particularly from Insex, were originally in low resolution (320x240) and recorded at 15 FPS, which was visually unappealing. To enhance these videos, an AI upscaling process was applied to improve the resolution, followed by frame interpolation to achieve a smoother 30 FPS. Additionally, audio issues were fixed, particularly those where sound was only present in the left channel. A comparison GIF was created to showcase the differences in upscaling and interpolation results. While it may not fully capture the resolution improvements, the movement and 30 FPS frame rate on the right side of the comparison were noted as significantly better.
