In 1998 the State of California passed a state wide ban on smoking. In 2002, New York and nine other States followed suit. By the end of 2003, twenty one States had banned smoking in some aspect. Within the next eight years, the entire United States followed, driving millions of addicted smokers underground and turned the now illegal trade of cigarettes and other tobacco products into the hands of gangsters and thugs. Sometimes history does in fact repeat itself. It's like the 1920's prohibition, all over again.
